There's a whole lot of different sentient species living together across the galaxy happily, quietly, mostly. No evil empires, no super heros, everyone just getting along with life and doing what they do. Faster than light travel was sorted out long ago, so you wanna go somewhere - you go. Of course, and here's the kicker, relativity hasn't gone away. Travel those 1000 light years and it takes you a couple of months. Everyone else has aged 20 years. Could be good, could be bad, just depends.

And that's where Franky comes in. Engineer, regular kinda guy, makes sure space ships get where they wanna go and no one dies. He's been hopping around the galaxy for most of his short life time, while everyone else has moved on half a millennium. And then his next job takes him to CS1...
